Иногда редкие и дорогие модели огнестрельного оружия по ряду причин не находят своих покупателей. Так произошло с рычажной винтовкой Linebaugh калибров .500 и .475, производимой американской фирмой Big Horn Armory. Сегодня и вплоть до конца июня скидка на винтовку составляет 1200 долларов США - столько стоят дорогие охотничьи ружья и винтовки других производителей.
Крупнокалиберные рычажные винтовки Linebaugh оказались в аутсайдерах продаж - они дороги, очень мощны и слишком нестандартны для охотничьего рынка. Несмотря на самые современные технологии производства и широчайшие возможности индивидуального комплектования, флагманы от Big Horn Armory теряют треть стоимости - еще недавно за каждую единицу производитель просил 3699 долларов США. Приобрести винтовку можно было только внеся депозит 600 долларов и дождавшись исполнения индивидуального заказа, что могло занимать долгие недели. Также покупателей отпугнули цены на индивидуальные комплектации - например, замена стандартного 18-дюймового ствола на 16-ти или 22-х дюймовый обошлась бы в 300 долларов США. Нанесение матового защитного покрытия на металлические детали - в 600 долларов. Ровно столько же стоит замена стандартного приклада на приклад из высокосортного ореха. А восьмиугольный профиль ствола прибавил бы к стоимости еще 750 долларов.
